TranscriptFetch tools
Get transcript and Search videos
Two TranscriptFetch tools: one fetches the transcript of a YouTube, TikTok or Instagram link, or of a direct audio or video file; the other searches videos and returns the top 5.
Good for
- A summary or the main arguments of a long video, on request
- Comparing what two videos say about the same topic
- Finding videos on a subject and getting their key points without watching them
Set it up
- Copy the workflow below and paste it onto an empty n8n canvas, or download the file and use Import from File.
- Add a TranscriptFetch API credential to both tools, and an OpenAI credential to the chat model.
- Open the chat and ask about any video link.
What it costs
- Each transcript the agent fetches costs 1 credit from captions, or 1 credit per started 5 minutes of audio when the video has none.
- Each search costs 1 credit. The chat model is billed by its provider.
Get the workflow
Copy it, click an empty spot on your n8n canvas and paste: the nodes arrive wired together. Or download the file and use Import from File in the workflow menu.
Questions
Can the agent use the other TranscriptFetch operations?
Yes. Add one TranscriptFetch tool per operation you want it to have, such as List Channel Videos. Or connect n8n's MCP Client Tool to the TranscriptFetch MCP server to give it every tool at once.
Does it remember earlier messages?
Not in the template. Add a memory sub-node to the AI Agent, such as Simple Memory, to keep the conversation.
