Troubleshooting

Private, deleted, region-locked and live media

The four access problems that look identical from your side, and how to tell them apart.

If a link does not open in a logged-out browser window, it will not open for us either. That single check resolves most reports.

Private or restricted

Unlisted usually works; private does not. Age-restricted and members-only content is not accessible.

Deleted or renamed

A removed video returns an error rather than an empty transcript. Reposted content gets a new ID, so an old URL stays dead.

Region-locked

Some media is unavailable in the region our fetch originates from. This can look intermittent, because availability differs by route.

Live streams

A stream that is still broadcasting has no finished transcript. Wait until it ends and the platform publishes the recording, then fetch it normally.

None of these cost a credit.

None of these cost a credit, because a failed fetch is never billed. That policy is set out on the pricing page.
